High & Low Voltage Electrical Insulation Safety Mats
High & Low Voltage Electrical Insulation Safety Mats
The Bureau of Indian Standards (BIS) introduced the IS:15652 standard, superseding IS:5424/69 in the year 2007 with the view of technical advancement & more strictest Industrial safety parameters. As per the new standard, synthetic material is recommended over traditional rubber for constructing Electrical Insulation Safety Mats.
These mats safeguard the life of technicians in case of any accidental current leakage while working on AC & DC installations. Synthetic Insulation mat confirms complete safety of workers handling live High Voltage electrical equipment.
Application:
Material Composition: Made from 100% virgin grade dielectric (Elastomer) material which possesses elastic properties & excellent resistance to abrasion.
Classification: Safety Mats for Electrical Applications are divided into three main classes based on Voltage Ratings. Recommended divisions are as follows:
VOLTAGE RATINGS
Class Thickness Working Voltage (In KV) Proof voltage Break Down Voltage
A 2.0 mm 3.3 10KV/3 minutes 30 KV
B 2.5 mm 11 22KV/3 minutes 45 KV
C 3.0 mm 33 36KV/3 minutes 65 KV
Color: Most preferred colors are Black, Blue & Grey but other colors are also made available on request. All offered colors are manufactured without metallic derivatives.
Surface: Minute abrasions are provided on the upper surface of the mat to make the surface Anti-skid.
Size: Standard width is normally 1 meter10 meters & the up to 10 meters per Roll but other sizes are made available as per requirement of the purchaser.
Working Temperature Range: Under Normal conditions withstand physical, mechanical & Electrical properties for temperate ranging from -10°C to +60°C.
Marking: Every meter of mat should be marked with the respective Class symbol, Lot No. or a Batch number and Manufacturer’s Identity or Brand name.
Packing: Packed in Gunny bags of Jute/Hessian cloth to avoid mechanical damage to the material in transit.
Workmanship & Finish: Each Meter of Mat should be free from all types of harmful physical irregularities such as pinholes, cracks, blisters, cuts, conductive embedded foreign matter, creases, pinch marks, voids, entrapped air, and prominent ripples.
Silent Features of Electrical Insulating Mat As Per IS:15652-2006:-
NOTE: Continuous abrasion of Insulated mats due to regular foot movement over it results in distortion of physical, mechanical & electrical properties of the mat, therefore a regular visual inspection is recommended for confirmation of appropriate service of mats. Any sign of deformation means the replacement of part or entire mat.
